The TPFBA

Taranaki Provincial Fire Brigades Association

The TBFBA was founded in Stratford in 1912.

We are a small but tight knit provincial with only 19 brigades. We have an active Gold Star Association and an Institute of Fire Engineers. As well as active sporting culture ranging from outdoor bowls to boat fishing.

Charitable Purpose

A volunteer organisation to help all fire fighters in Taranaki. Provide support as needed. Organise sporting and social events. We hold 4 Provincial Meetings a year at different stations within the Province. One of which is the AGM

Charitable Objectives

Our objectives are:

  • To organise Fire Brigades’ into a Provincial Fire Brigades Association
  • To encourage the formation of Brigades
  • To promote and maintain a well defined and recognised status for member brigades and to continually monitor and advance their collective interests
  • To hold Annual Conferences, Biennial Competitions and meetings for the discussion of matters and duties, the reading of papers and the deliver of lectures, to issue copies of papers, lectures and other memoranda, to instil a high standard of ability with a view to improving the status of the New Zealand Fire Service (now FENZ) in particular.
  • To organise and or assist with the holding of Field Days, training evenings, training camps, or other events to the benefit of members.
  • To purchase, have hold and dispose of any equipment or any other property to the advancement of the objects.
  • To do all such lawful things as are incidental or conductive to the attainments of the above objects of any of them.
  • The Association is established for the purpose and with the objects expressed in the proceeding paragraphs and all matters incidental hereto and in furtherance thereof, the Association in general meeting, direct attention to such matters therein mentioned or incidental thereto and carry out or take steps to carry on any of the objects of the Association as may appear to them expedient.
  • To control the use of the Common Seal of the Association which shall be affixed to appropriate documents in the presence of the President and any other one member of the Executive. The safe keeping of the Common Seal shall be the responsibility of the Secretary.
  • To do all such things as the Executive consider reasonable and necessary to promote and implement the rules and goodwill of the Association.
